David Ebert is the Silicon Valley Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University, a Fellow of the IEEE, and director of both the Purdue University Visual Analytics Center, and the Visual Analytics for Command Control and Interoperability Environments (VACCINE) Center, a U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Center of Excellence Emeritus. Dr. Ebert is a leading expert in integrated, interactive data visualization and analysis (visual analytics), having deployed solutions for effective decision making in agricultural applications, medical applications, veterinary applications, public safety, logistics management, weather, and emergency response. He is the recipient of the 2017 IEEE Computer Society vgTC Technical Achievement Award for seminal contributions in visual analytics. He is also very active in the visualization and analytics community, teaching courses, presenting papers, co-chairing conference program committees, and holding senior leadership positions in professional societies (IEEE, ACM). Ebert also successfully manages a large program of external funding to develop more effective methods for visually communicating information and is a founder of three start-ups out of Purdue University.
