Ryan J.W. Swenson is the Global Industry and Solutions Leader for Healthcare and Life Sciences at Cloudera where is heavily engaged with Cloudera’s clients and partners across the entire spectrum of healthcare segments across the global stage. Ryan joined Cloudera from Virtustream, a Dell Technologies company and provider of cloud services, where Ryan held numerous roles in product management and product engineering serving Healthcare and Life Sciences customers for the past 6 years. During his tenure at Virtustream, Ryan led the development of healthcare and life sciences service offerings and solutions, strategic alliances, and drove joint Dell EMC and Virtustream major growth initiatives in EHR, Medical Imaging, Genomics, Big Data, Object Storage, and Machine Learning as-a-Services. Ryan was instrumental in building one of the world’s largest cloud storage services backed by Big Data, the Virtusream Storage Cloud, in addition to cloud services dedicated to Healthcare and Life Sciences, the Virtustream Healthcare Cloud, where he personally contributed to $25 million dollars in generated revenues and over $50M in aggregated new bookings in a year’s time. Prior to Virtustream, Ryan held numerous roles spanning product development, software engineering, data sciences, and strategic management consulting, with over 22 years total experience serving Healthcare and Life Sciences customers, most notably at EMC, VMware, IBM, SAS Institute, and SAS business partners. Ryan resides in Raleigh, NC, with his wife, son, daughter, and their dog Teddy, and enjoys traveling and outdoor activities while not heads down inside coding, Ryan’s hobby that has him involved in many global software development, Open Source, and public health initiatives.
