Tom Bayer earned his B.S. from Ohio State University and his master’s degree from Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business. He went on to work for the Governor of Ohio before embarking upon his career in financial services with Bank One in 1985. Tom built his career in leadership roles at Sprint, Citibank and Inteliguard before taking on his first CIO role at Capital One.  Over the past 15 years, Tom has led IT departments at financial services organizations, including Capital One, Freddie Mac, the SEC, and S&P Global.

Tom is now with the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) serving as the CIO, a member of the executive leadership team, and a key advisor to the organization’s Board of Directors. He is responsible for ensuring compliance with IT policies that address planning, risk, acquisition, development, maintenance, and information privacy and protection, and leading the teams responsible for CSBS IT strategy, systems, and service delivery.
